first_img Facebook Twitter Pork Industry Believes McCarthy Could Change EPA’s Relationship with Hog Farmers By Gary Truitt – Mar 15, 2013 Facebook Twitter The National Pork Producers Council believes the Environmental Protection Agency needs a change in how it interacts with industries it regulates and how it is managed. The pork industry believes President Obama’s nominee – Gina McCarthy – to be the new EPA Administrator would make that change happen. McCarthy has been EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation Assistant Administrator for the past four-years. During that time – the staff has been professional, transparent and trustworthy – something stakeholders affected by the policies under that office have considered a breath of fresh air. While the pork industry hasn’t always agreed with McCarthy – she was always willing to reach out and listen to pork producers’ concerns and discuss solutions – according to NPPC President Randy Spronk.
